ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The Department of Educational Psychology contains faculty members with expertise that span the disciplines of applied behavior analysis, gifted education, school psychology, special education, quantitative methods, and learning and development. Our collective goal is to shape our respective disciplines through innovative, high-quality scholarship as we prepare future practitioners, scholars, researchers, and leaders in undergraduate and graduate programs through exceptional teaching, an emphasis on experiential learning, and thoughtful mentorship. The Department of Educational Psychology is ranked in the top quartile among educational psychology and related departments in U.S. Its faculty include highly actively scholars who are engaged in a range of externally funded research and committed to student mentorship. Several of the department faculty have close affiliations with the Baylor Center for Developmental Disabilities and the Baylor Center for Gifted Education and Talent Development (Baylor TIP), each of which offer significant opportunities for research collaboration. The PhD program in Educational Psychology has been consistently recognized as among the most active programs for student scholarship and dissemination on Baylor’s campus.
ABOUT THE POSITION:
The Department of Educational Psychology seeks to fill a position at the rank of associate or full professor for a quantitative methodologist who will advance an impactful methods-focused research agenda, support high-quality research and collaboration, and provide effective teaching and mentorship to students in the department’s PhD programs (i.e., educational psychology, school psychology) as well as students from other graduate programs seeking methodological preparation for the social sciences. Desired area(s) of expertise include, but are not limited to, structural equation modeling, psychometrics, longitudinal methods, multilevel modeling, and causal inference.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The primary responsibilities of this position include:
- Contributing to the continued growth of the School of Education’s quantitative methods specialization.
- Developing and maintaining a strong, fundable program of research/scholarship, including high-impact dissemination.
- Developing, designing, and teaching quantitative methods courses at the graduate level;
- Participating in efforts to secure external funding, as PI and as collaborator on interdisciplinary projects.
- Recruiting, mentoring, and supervising graduate students.
- Providing service to the university and the profession.
SALARY AND BEGINNING DATE:
The salary will be commensurate with qualifications and professional experience. The anticipated date of appointment is 8/15/2025.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Consistent with Baylor’s mission to be a world-class institution dedicated to Christian principles and ideals, the qualifications for the position include:
- An earned doctorate in educational psychology, research and measurement, or quantitative psychology (or other related fields)
- Expertise and interest in areas of particular relevance to educational and psychological research, such as, but not limited to, structural equation modeling, psychometrics, longitudinal methods, multilevel modeling, and causal inference.
- A coherent, active, methods-focused line of peer-reviewed research commensurate with expectations at an R1 institution.
- History of named contributions (e.g., methodologist, Co-PI, or PI) on extramurally funded grants.
- Knowledge of programming languages (e.g., R, Python, SAS, LaTeX).
- Demonstrated success or strong potential for collaboration on interdisciplinary research across social science domains.
- Ability to develop, design, and teach introductory and advanced graduate courses in quantitative methods.
- A strong commitment to recruit and mentor students specializing in quantitative methods.
- Philosophy compatible with the stated mission of the University to be a world-class institution dedicated to Christian principles and ideals.
