Amy Owen
- Senior Academic Advisor
Amy Owen is the senior academic advisor for undergraduate students in Baylor’s School of Education. Ms. Owen’s role includes meeting with incoming, returning, and transfer students year-round to help students select and register for classes, plan their schedules, and set long-term goals. She is part of the School of Education advising staff — led by Dr. Joel Porter, assistant dean for undergraduate programs — which guides education students during their entire four years in the SOE.
A Waco native, Ms. Owen has 21 years of public-school experience. Her work portfolio includes twelve years as a district gifted and talented specialist for Midway ISD, and experiences teaching in third-, fourth-, and fifth-grade classrooms in Midway ISD and Waco ISD.
Ms. Owen is an alumna of the School of Education, having earned a BSEd in Elementary Education and master’s degree in Educational Psychology with an emphasis in gifted & talented education from Baylor University.
