Dismissal Policies
Teacher Education Program
The School of Education clearly defines expectations of candidates in the Teacher Education Handbook which is carefully reviewed each year with School of Education candidates (including Music Education candidates, Deaf and Hard of Hearing Education candidates, and Physical Education candidates). Additionally, at the time students are accepted as candidates in the program, they read, review, and sign the exit policy for dismissal of candidates. This policy contains explicit language regarding the process for candidate removal as well as reasons a candidate may be removed from the program, including violation of the Educators’ Code of Ethics.
Educational Leadership Programs (Principal and Superintendent)
Candidates in the Principal and Superintendent programs read, review, and sign the exit policy for dismissal of candidates at the time they are accepted in the program. This policy contains explicit language regarding the process for leadership candidate removal as well as reasons a candidate may be removed from the program, including violation of the Educators’ Code of Ethics. The process is initiated and conducted at the discretion of the Associate Dean of Graduate Education with advice from the Director of the Principal or Director of the Superintendent program. If it is determined that a leadership candidate has violated the Educators’ Code of Ethics, they are immediately removed from the EPP and the matter is turned over to the Office of Student Conduct Administration at Baylor University.
