Transfer Policy for Undergraduate Teacher-Education Programs
Based on Baylor University’s undergraduate student transfer policy, all undergraduate students desiring admission to Baylor University’s Teacher Education Program must first submit to Baylor University admissions office an official transcript from any regionally accredited institutions they have previously attended. If admitted to Baylor University, all classes for which the student has received a grade of “C” or higher will transfer to Baylor University. However, the following criteria must be met for courses, service, and experiences to meet Teacher Education course and program requirements:
- Courses directly related to the certificate being sought must have been completed within the past five years;
- Courses for which there are no equivalent courses at Baylor University will be reviewed by the appropriate School of Education Department Chair. Based on a course description and, as appropriate, a course syllabus, the Department Chair will evaluate the information and determine if course equivalency or substitution exists.
- If the transfer course is determined to be equivalent to a Teacher Education requirement, the course is accepted and fulfills School of Education admission and program requirements.
- If the transfer course is determined to not be equivalent to a Teacher Education requirement, the course is then further reviewed by the School of Education Department Chair to determine if a similar course within the program exists and allows for a substitution course in the student’s major. If the transfer course is determined to have a course substitute to a Teacher Education requirement, the course is accepted and fulfills School of Education admission and program requirements.
- No field-based or clinical experience requirements completed at another Educator Preparation Program will be accepted as a substitute for fulfilling School of Education degree or certification requirements.
- No military or non-military service or training will be accepted as a substitute for fulfilling School of Education degree or certification requirements.
