Dissertation Exploring STEM Education Inequities Receives Award
Dr. Annmarie Crum, a December 2022 graduate of the EdD Learning and Organizational Change online program at Baylor University, was awarded Baylor’s Outstanding Dissertation Award for her work exploring inequities in STEM education.
Dissertation Research Award for Baylor Online EdD Grad
Dr. Alicia Briancon, an August graduate from the Baylor School of Education’s online EdD in Learning and Organizational Change and instructor at College of Southern Nevada (CSN), a community college in Clark County, Nevada, received the Outstanding Research Paper Award for the Southeastern Universities Graduate Research Symposium (SUGRS).
A Wider Welcome: Endowed Chair Brings Expansion of Disability Research
Dr. Erik Carter joined the Baylor School of Education faculty in January as the Luther Sweet Endowed Chair in Disabilities, made possible as part of a $1.75 million gift to Baylor from an anonymous alumni couple. Carter brings to Baylor an established and impactful record of research publication with significant scholarly citations and grant funding totaling $28 million.
Dr. Karon LeCompte Receives Research Grants for Expanded Civics Education Work
Dr. Karon LeCompte, associate professor of curriculum and instruction in the Baylor School of Education, received the 2023 Baylor Centennial Professors Award, along with another award from the Baylor Libraries — the Baylor Fundamentals of Data Research Fellowship, also for research in summer of 2023.
Dr. Kelly Johnston's Research Takes Reading Beyond the Printed Page
Dr. Kelly Johnston’s current research project was recognized recently by the Baylor Department of Curriculum and Instruction with the inaugural Innovation in Teaching and Learning Award granted on behalf of the Education Deans of Independent Colleges and University of Texas (EDICUT).
Baylor SOE Graduate Receives National Dissertation Award
Dr. Jennifer Gonzales, a 2022 graduate of the Baylor online EdD in Learning & Organizational Change, received the Dissertation Award from the national School Science and Mathematics Association (SSMA).
Dr. Rishi Sriram Named Senior Scholar
Dr. Rishi Sriram, associate professor in Baylor School of Education’s Department of Educational Leadership and director of the MSEd in Higher Education and Student Affairs, was selected as a Senior Scholar of ACPA (American College Personnel Association).
School of Education Receives Autism Grant Award for Innovation from THECB
Jessica Akers, Ph.D., assistant professor of educational psychology, received a $893,409 grant from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board to develop an innovative treatment model for children with autism and their siblings — Sibling SUCCESS: Supporting Unique Collaborative Care to Encourage Shared Success.
Dr. Sandi Cooper Recognized for State and National Leadership
Dr. Sandi Cooper, professor in the Baylor School of Education’s Department of Curriculum & Instruction, was selected as the 2022 recipient of the E. Glenadine Gibb Achievement Award.

Dr. Rishi Sriram’s Research on College Student Development Noted for Impact
Dr. Rishi Sriram, associate professor in the Department of Educational Leadership, was recognized among researchers of highest impact for the Journal of College Student Development over the past 15 years. An analysis of 451 published articles found that only six articles represented 68% of research impact and attention. An article by Sriram ranked #3.
Baylor Online EdD in Learning & Organizational Change Named CPED Program of the Year
The Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Learning and Organizational Change online program was named a Carnegie Project on the Education Doctorate (CPED) Program of the Year 2022 winner. Baylor's program was specifically recognized for its overall innovation, social justice pursuits, diversity of faculty and students, and for preparing scholarly practitioners to lead change initiatives that promote equity.
