How-To Videos
Services
Therapy sessions
Families receive services in their home, over video conference on a Baylor-provided iPad (or their own technology), with a coach from Baylor.
The coaches are on Baylor University’s campus and provide coaching to parents and caregivers using video technology. Parents help select goals for the child across the target skill areas (see below). Coaches develop an individualized intervention program and provide coaching to help parents and caregivers implement the intervention.
Technology
Baylor provides all needed technology for the duration of the project, or families can use their own technology.
Cost
There is no cost to participate in the project.
Types of Skills Therapists Work on During the Program
Social Skills help an individual interact with those around them, such as playing board games or playing with toys.
Adaptive Skills help an individual become more independent, such as brushing teeth and tying shoes.
Pre-Academic Skills promote learning, such as identifying colors and naming letters.
Communication Skills help an individual communicate with those around them, such as communicating what the child wants and engaging in conversation.
Challenging Behavior* Families may need skills to reduce challenging behavior, such as aggression, self-injury, property destruction, and tantrums.
*Some children who engage in problem behavior that is too severe may not be appropriate for the program, due to safety concerns. The coaching team will discuss each family about whether this program is a good fit for the child, based on the nature of the problem behavior.
