Meg Hoefer

Meg Hoefer serves as Assistant Dean for Finance and Business Officer for the School of Education. In this role she partners with the Dean and the SOE executive leadership to steward and manage resources that promote the values, vision, and strategic plan for the School of Education and Baylor University.  As a senior advisor on all financial, business, and administrative matters, Ms. Hoefer represents the school on related matters to the University. Within her role she is responsible daily for the effective conduct of all business and financial affairs of the SOE and effectively plans and allocates resources to achieve education, research, finance, and business objectives.

Ms. Hoefer began her career in public accounting serving a wide range of clients, from individuals to corporations, preparing financial statements and tax returns for both individuals and businesses.  After working 12 years in public accounting, she transitioned to private accounting where she served as a controller.  Ms. Hoefer joined the Baylor community in 2017 and has since managed all financial resources related to multiple areas, including faculty, staff, research personnel, budget preparation and analysis, strategic planning, financial statement analysis, and capital allocations. Ms. Hoefer recently served an additional role as the Business Officer for G.W. Truett Seminary where she managed and advised on all business and finance operations and often assisted in various financial and business projects/tasks under the direction of the provost’s office, since coming to Baylor. Additionally, she has been responsible for the oversight of academic program finances, clinics, centers, community programming, and projects.  She also managed numerous multi-million dollar externally funded grant awards in a role serving the Institute for Studies of Religion, which is where she began her Baylor career.

Ms. Hoefer received her Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Texas Tech University and was selected as Baylor Alumni by Choice in 2018. She serves on the University’s Business Officer Council and on numerous working groups within the accounting and business finance community at Baylor.  In addition to her work responsibilities, she serves Baylor as a faculty advisor for an on-campus Panhellenic organization, is an instructor for the Baylor Continuing Education Department, and is involved as a Leadership presenter for the Baylor Human Resources Department.
